Indiana Academic Standards: Science

Designed from the ground up for the Indiana Academic Standards: Science by award-winning STEM education specialists. It gives students compelling, memorable opportunities to use phenomena to understand problems in context, develop understanding of scientific concepts, and apply learning to design solutions. Story-driven modules give students the chance to take on real-world STEM roles, bringing science to life like no other program.


From this page, you can explore components of the program that has been approved as High Quality Instructional Materials (HQIM) by the Indiana Department of Education in 2024. Twig Science has been awarded the highest possible rating from Learning List following an independent evaluation of the program's alignment to 3-D standards, instructional quality, and technological compatibility.

EQUiP Rubrics for Science

The EQuIP Rubric for Science provides criteria by which to measure how well lessons and units are designed for 3-D science standards such as the Indiana Academic Standards: Science.

Alignment and Progressions

To make it easy for teachers to track student progress, the documents below include Indiana Academic Standards: Science Framework Alignments for Grades K–5 and 6–8 outlining the Performance Expectations covered by each module.

Additionally, grade-level Scope and Sequence tables detail the three dimensions (SEPs, CCs, and DCIs) covered in each module.

Finally, for each module, a Performance Expectation Progressions overview lays out the prior knowledge students bring to each module and how their learning is expected to progress in future grades.

Instructional Design

The Twig Science Indiana instructional design follows the 5Es instructional model at both elementary and middle school levels, as students construct, demonstrate, and reflect on their understanding of the three dimensions of module Performance Expectations.
