Let’s Create Change Together!

Providing a core curriculum is a big responsibility.

When teachers and districts place their trust in Imagine Learning’s core ELA, math, and science offerings, they’re not only investing in a program to hit standards in core curriculum areas.

They’re also buying into a support structure that will have a huge influence on the instructional tone of a district, influencing every aspect of how it approaches pedagogy and instruction—not just during the decision-making and implementation processes, but for years to come.

So when we begin a relationship with a district, all of us at Imagine Learning are committed to being in it for the long haul. We know that goes way beyond showing up to do face-to-face professional learning on the curriculum at the start.
In education, nothing stands still. Standards change. Assessment changes. Technology is constantly developing. Staff come and go. Perspectives on what makes instruction engaging and meaningful for teachers and students are ever evolving.

Running a district, school, or classroom involves navigating these changes. It never stops. At Imagine Learning, we are dedicated to maintaining relationships with districts and teachers to manage change over time—listening, collaborating, and making change happen together.
On this page we highlight some of the key ways we have worked with educators to create change in our core products.

Math

Imagine Learning Illustrative Math continues to develop tools in response to teacher feedback that really put students first, right at the center of the curriculum. Examples include Digital Centers, which allow students to play math-based games, and Task Statements, launched in 2021, which let students input their responses for class activities and give teachers valuable insights not just into what students are thinking but how they are thinking.
A change we’ve seen in recent years is that parents and families are more engaged than ever in trying to support their learners, so we’re developing resources to help them do just that,  including family support videos, which give families the opportunity to see what's going on inside the math classroom—such as vocabulary and concepts—and take part in activities with their students to reinforce learning.
Students are really engaged by the new Inspire Math videos that Imagine Learning has created this past year. These videos expand on unit content and bring it to life for students, showcasing the math in a real-world, engaging context.

Science

There have been ongoing shifts in science teaching since the development of the Next Generation Science Standards. Rather than focusing on what students should understand, there's now an emphasis on what they should be able to do. For students to fully engage in doing science, the learning experience must be student centered. So Twig Science provides opportunities for students to ask questions and use their prior knowledge and experiences in each module to ultimately make sense of phenomena and solve problems.
We’ve worked with teachers to build a program specifically for the Next Generation Science Standards, which helps them hit those standards with ease. Twig Science maps out a comprehensive teaching sequence, with in-depth, responsive, and continuing professional development.
A key feature of student-centered learning is collaborative discussion, and Twig Science embeds discussion routines to support students’ sharing and collaborating. We’ve had feedback from teachers using the program describing how when they're delivering science, they really find that their students have started to “talk science” in the classroom so much more, genuinely engaging with investigations and feeling a personal connection to the idea of themselves as people who do science.

ELA

We’ve responded to teachers’ needs for support in handling classroom discussions around evolving cultural and social issues by developing a Culturally Responsive Education (CRE) Toolbox, a teacher-facing resource that helps teachers oversee difficult or uncomfortable discussions that take place in the classroom.

Teachers told us they wanted more flexible ways of working, so we developed a software platform that allows teachers to customize and to also provide us feedback at point of use in real time. There's no other software like it right now.
Imagine Learning works with districts and schools to provide a level of professional development that is right for each school and for each district. Every school implementing Odell Education has a dedicated customer success manager to help provide support when teachers need it.
